Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is prominent in ensuring high-quality service, especially amongst medical professions. In Hong Kong, professions such as Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, and Radiographers all require CPD to keep their professions updated in order to provide patients with the utmost honorable treatment. To enhance recognition of Audiologists as a mature profession, the Hong Kong Society of Audiology Limited (HKSA Ltd.) has decided to take the leap by launching CPD. Not only will CPD provide audiologists with new and advanced knowledge, but also strengthen their acquired skills.
Similar to other professions in Hong Kong, the CPD program for audiologists is going to proceed gradually in four phases. The first phase includes the development of the CPD program by the HKSA Committee for CPD. The second phase marks the endorsement of the CPD program and commencement with the participation from HKSA life and full members on a voluntary basis. The third phase involves the certification of CPD program as a mandatory scheme for all eligible HKSA members with a quotable accreditation. And eventually, it is planned that CPD for Audiology will be registered and set as a mandatory scheme for all practicing audiologists.
